This series of postcards designed for the Academy of American Poets feature excerpts from poems written by the upcoming year's twelve Poem-a-Day Guest Editors at Poets.org. The set is gifted to donors as part of AAP's end of year appeal and has a print run of ~3k.
I feel incredibly blessed every time I get invited back by the AAP to work on some design project, and making these postcard sets has to be my favorite assignment. For this third round I got to really immerse myself in the work of the chosen poets and push myself accordingly to be able to conjure images that retained some of the essence of these poems (a good chunk of them heavy and loaded with emotion) while also striving for the light. My aim is to touch people's hearts when they look at my images and create postcards that someone would want to both keep and send to someone special.
